Texas Gulf Coast Sea Shells

Did you know that Texas has a State shell? Well, we do. It's common name is "Lightning Whelk." For you serious "shell folks" its scientific name is "busycon perversum pulleyi." The Alvin Museum Gift Shop has added Texas seashells as part of its inventory. Some of the smaller Whelk shells are available along with packets of common shells found on the Texas coast.

The Gift Shop has many other local, county and Texas items of interest for sale. Come visit us. The Gift Shop is inside the Alvin Historical Museum located at 300 W. Sealy, and opened on Thursdays, Fridays, and first Saturday of the month from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. There is no charge to visit the gift shop. The admission fee for the museum is $3.00.
